Beaches
Lithuania has only 90 km of coastline but it can boast many beautiful sandy beaches. The most popular resorts are Neringa and Palanga. The Lithuanian beaches are famous for the cleanness.
Sightseeing
There are numerous interesting sites in Lithuania. In Vilnius the must-see places include the magnificent Cathedral, the Gediminas Castle and the Gate of Dawn. There are also many old churches, such as St. Anne’s Church and St. Peter and St. Paul's Church, and interesting museums, including the KGB Museum. The Old Town of Vilnius is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Hiking/Walking
There are many hiking routes and trails in Lithuania. The Curonian Spit National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) is one of the most popular areas for hiking. Other destinations for hikers are: Trakai National Park, Aukstaitija National Park and Zemaitija National Park.
Skiing
Lithuania is a fairly flat country, however, there are pretty good opportunities for winter sports such as downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding and ice skating. There are several ski resorts such as Ignalina, Birstonas and Anyksciai Kalita. The ski season lasts from December till the end of March.
Water sports
The Lithuanian coast offers perfect conditions for surfing, water skiing and boating. Lakes and rivers are great for kayaking and canoeing.
Fishing
Fishing requires a license which can be purchased from the Department of Water Resources or from specialized fishing shops. One can fish for pike, burbot, perch, salmon and zander.
Nightlife
Lithuania offers a wide variety of venues where one can spend a nice evening – restaurants, bars, clubs, casinos, theatres, cinemas etc. Nightlife is especially vibrant in major towns such as Vilnius, Kaunas or Klaipeda.
Others
Other popular activities include cycling, tennis and more extreme sports such as hot-air ballooning, paragliding or bungee jumping.
