CLIMATE


Finland lies in the Eurasian continent’s coastal zone and thus the climate is transitional between maritime and continental. Summers are mild and warm, winters are cold and snowy.

Temperatures

The average monthly temperatures in summer: 17-19ºC in the south, 16ºC near the Gulf of Bothnia, 14-15ºC in the northern Lapland. The average temperatures in winter: -4ºC in Åland, -13ºC in the central Lapland, -19ºC in the Scandinavian Mountains.


Precipitation

Annual total precipitation: 500 mm in Lapland, 700 mm in the south.
