GETTING THEREBy airThe international airports in Cyprus are Larnaca (LCA) and Pafos (PFO). Most major European airlines have direct scheduled flights to Cyprus. GETTING AROUND
By bus
There are three types of buses available in Cyprus. Transurban buses link all towns. Rural buses link villages with the nearest city. Urban buses operate within the cities. Buses are cheap but not very punctual. They do not operate on Sundays.
By taxi
Similarly to buses, there are transurban, rural and urban taxis. Transurban taxis can be bookes by phone or via the Internet. Rural taxis can be booked from/to their terminal. Urban taxis operate 24h and can be either booked or hired on the street. Urban taxis are provided with taximeters. The initial charge is about 3 euro and every kilometer costs 0,6 euro. Extra supplement is charged during public holidays (2 euro/per ride) and also for delay (14 euro/per hour) or extra luggage weighing more than 12 kg (1 euro).
By car
Traveling around Cyprus by car is the best option. Driving is on the left side of the road. International and foreign driving licenses are accepted. Driver must also have a Green Card, however, in Turkish part, local insurance is required. Driver must not drive with a blood alcohol level of more than 0,39 per mill. Driver and passengers must wear seat belts (if available). Speed limits: built-up areas – 50 km/h, main highways – 80 km/h, motorways – 100 km/h.
